  • Linked to obesity
  • High risk for kidney disease

• SIDD (Severe Insulin-Deficient Diabetes)

  • High beta cell failure (but not type 1)
  • Not linked to obesity
  • Risk of retinopathy
  • Earlier onset

• MOD (Mild Obesity-Related Diabetes)

  • Linked to obesity
  • Earlier onset

• MARD (Mild Age-Related Diabetes)

  • Linked to aging
  • Slow progression
