COMT Gene

Catechol-O-Methyltransferase (COMT)

COMT encodes for an enzyme that breaks down catecholamines: dopamine, adrenaline, noradrenaline, and oestrogen.

COMT regulates dopamine signaling in the prefrontal cortex. This is critical for memory, attention, judgement and executive function.
